Advantages and characteristics of welding robot

The opening of the welding tongs can be adjusted arbitrarily according to the conditions of the workpiece. As long as there is no collision or interference, the opening can be reduced as much as possible to save the opening of the welding tongs and the time occupied by the opening and closing of the welding tongs. Welding robot is an industrial robot engaged in welding (including cutting and spraying). It mainly includes two parts: robot and welding equipment. Among them, the welding robot is composed of the robot body and the control cabinet (hardware and software); while the welding equipment, taking arc welding and spot welding as examples, consists of a welding power source (including its control system), a wire feeder (arc welding), and a welding gun. (Pliers) and other parts. For smart robots, it should also be equipped with sensor systems, such as laser or camera sensors and their control devices.

Features of spot welding robot
  Because of the integrated welding gun, the welding transformer is installed behind the welding gun, so the transformer of the spot welding robot must be as small as possible. For transformers with smaller capacity, 50Hz power frequency AC can be used, and for transformers with larger capacity, the industry has begun to use inverter technology to change 50Hz power frequency AC into 600-700Hz AC, which reduces the size of the transformer. After voltage transformation, you can directly use 600-700Hz alternating current welding, or you can perform secondary rectification and direct current welding. The welding parameters are adjusted by the timer. At present, the new timer has been microcomputerized, so the robot control cabinet can directly control the timer without additional interfaces. The welding tongs of the spot welding robot use electric servo spot welding tongs. The opening and closing of the welding tongs are driven by a servo motor, and the encoder feedback, so that the opening degree of the welding tongs can be arbitrarily selected and preset according to actual needs. The pressing force can also be steplessly adjusted.
Electric servo spot welding tongs have the following advantages:
(1) The welding cycle of each welding point can be greatly reduced, because the opening degree of the welding tongs is precisely controlled by the robot, and the welding tongs can begin to close when the robot moves between points; After one point, the robot can move while the welding tongs are opened. There is no need to wait for the robot to be in place before the welding tongs are closed or the welding tongs are fully opened before the robot moves.
  (2) The opening of the welding tongs can be adjusted arbitrarily according to the condition of the workpiece. As long as there is no collision or interference, the opening can be reduced as much as possible to save the opening of the welding tongs and the time occupied by the opening and closing of the welding tongs.
  (3) When the welding tongs are closed and pressurized, not only the pressure can be adjusted, but also the two electrodes are closed gently when closing, which can reduce impact deformation and noise.

Features of arc welding robot
   Arc welding robots mostly use gas shielded welding methods (MAG, MIG, TIG), and the usual thyristor, inverter, waveform control, pulse or non-pulse welding power sources can be installed on the robot for arc welding. Since the robot control cabinet adopts digital control, and the welding power supply is mostly analog control, it is necessary to add an interface between the welding power supply and the control cabinet.
   In recent years, foreign robot manufacturers have their own specific matching welding equipment. Corresponding interface boards have been inserted into these welding equipment, so there is no additional interface box in the arc welding robot system. It should be pointed out that in the arc welding robot's work cycle, the proportion of arc time is relatively large. Therefore, when selecting a welding power source, the capacity of the power source should generally be determined at a continuity rate of 100%. The wire feeding mechanism can be mounted on the upper arm of the robot or placed outside the robot. The hose between the welding torch and the wire feeder of the former is shorter, which helps to maintain the stability of the wire feeding, while the hose principal of the latter serves as a robot. Sending the welding torch to certain positions will cause the hose to be in a multi-bend state, which will seriously affect the quality of the wire feed. Therefore, the installation method of the wire feeder must consider the issue of ensuring the stability of the wire feed.
